END GRAIN MAPLE CUTTING BOARD & CHOPPING BLOCK
Cài Bǎn (菜板) means "cutting board" in the Mandarin dialect of the Chinese language. Constructed from Hard Maple wood, these distinctively shaped cutting boards, round and very thick, are stalwart foundations for chopping with a traditional Chinese or European cleaver.
This board is reversible and is supplied with a non-skid placement mat and a stainless steel bench scraper. A 2-ounce bottle of Howard Butcher Block Conditioner is also included so that you may pass your board down to ensuing dynasties.
Available in three standard dimensions from the 2-1/2 inch thick, 15 inch diameter block to the formidable 3-1/2 inch thick, 22-in (aka "the beast from the east") diameter sizes. Custom sizes are available. Please contact us for a quotation.
Wood is a natural product and no two pieces are exactly the same. Grain, coloring and even the dimensions will vary slightly from board to board and from the examples depicted on this page. Also, most woods will darken or change color slightly, particularly with exposure to sunlight. You will find that the character of the wood will deepen and grow more luxurious over time.
